Piers Linney is a role model who is unstoppable! His vision of being an entrepreneur had very humble beginnings. He was only 13 when he first set up a business. He did paper rounds, and amazingly sold the business at a profit later on. He is professionally a Lawyer and an accountant. He studied Law and Accounting at Manchester University.
He was born Lancashire, and is of mixed origin, Barbadian and English. He did not immediately get into entrepreneurship after his campus studies. He worked first as a solicitor at City Law Firm. He then entered the business world in 1997. He began a number of businesses, ranging from pharmacy to music.
In 2007, he worked with his business partner and after a few mergers, set up a mobile services company. It is from this that Outsourcery was born, a household name in Cloud computing. In 2010, Outsourcery was awarded as Microsoft’s most proficient Hosting partner, worldwide, and made it to the finals For the Server platform category in 2013. Linney shocked the world by being one of the two Dragons in the BBC Den.
What’s striking about Linney is that despite being a renowned entrepreneur he has a zest for life. He rides mountain bikes, and has given back to community when he was featured on Secret Millionaire by working with prisoners, and even employing one in his company! He is also a fervent supporter of charity work. He is recognized as one of the most influential Black people in Britain. Awards cannot describe Linney’s passion. He is set to expand Outsourcery’s services internationally and believes that operations outside the UK could account for between 20 and 25 per cent of the firm’s business by 2015.
