George The Poet is a spoken word performer, public speaker, writer and recording artist from North-West London. At twenty-three years of age, he offers social commentary through poetry. This draws from his early life in the inner city as well as the Politics, Psychology and Sociology course he studied at Cambridge University.
He started performing rap and grime at 15 but when he got to Cambridge he decided to “pass it off as poetry” as he knew it would get lost in translation otherwise. The 23-year-old says he wants to inspire others to achieve better things. “I want people to be aware of their power,” he says.
Life, for my generation, isn’t as easy as others make out. i think it’s harder. That’s why I’m glad I could write and film this poem to remind young people that they do deserve good things in life and, if they work hard, anything is possible.”
